Wrought from coarse rebar, this stag’s head is mounted on a shield of rich walnut. The antlers sweep wide and high in sharp angles, and the face is built from fine geometric lines that make it look both alert and calm. Nothing is taken from nature, because the head is made of metal and not of flesh. Light passes through the open lattice, and the shadow it throws on the wall behind it is as striking as the sculpture.
